Overlaying photos

Overlaying photos
After spending a good amount of time in the Mac suite with Adobe Bridge and on the printers I have begun creating various effects with overlaid photography.  This first batch may have used to much paint as the effects of the colour drowns at the photo at points however the colour does enhance the photo and create nice effects that are appropriate for an apocalyptic landscape

The first piece has been overlaid using a ruler and I think the colour really intensifies the image it was applied and produces a great effect making it look fairly gaseous adding another dimension to the image. The colour helps to produce an ancient time-worn look to the structure while also giving the appearance of an environment destroyed by some unknown miasma. Another experiment made by layers of yellow and orange. This emphasizes the dark structure in the background while bringing the sky forward in the viewer’s perception giving the appearance of breaking dawn over a gothic structure.

It’s unfortunate that the results are less substantial as what it was still fresh. The dark and lucid sinewy strings of colour gave the impression of veins spreading across the inorganic structure although at this point is largely lost. These last two do lose a degree of integrity although I feel I’m a little more on the right track in experimenting with visual components. Nevertheless I believe the patterns of dark colour help to create a better sense of urban decomposition which I believe could be better developed for other pieces.
