Digital manipulations part 2

Digital manipulations part 2
Here are a few more works that I have recently developed using Photoshop and Gimp.

This first piece was created taking photos of the Blackburn cemetery and layering it over a background image of an alleyway. Particularly inspired by the photos taken by A. Taylor and the paintings of Beksinski I had conceived the notion of splicing photos to create the surreal sights of a city of gravestones. I love the apocalyptic feel that comes with the idea and had managed to get the photos during a time that the graves where overtaken with wild grass and instances of moss. To further produce a sense of angst and horror the photo has undergone alterations in contrast and colourisation to emphasize urban decomposition.

The second piece has been produced through the same kind of layering including erasing bits and pieces to create the effect of a merged environment. While I had envisioned that the pieces are without the grassy environment I felt that I had to take advantage of the wild untamed grass. After merging the two layers I dramatically increased the contrast and saturation giving it the building the dark red tone and bright vibrancy of the grass and then went over with a paint brush to create the thick fog effect and served to drown out certain inconsistencies and creating a geographic whole.
