Hieronymus Bosch

Bosch
Bosch the prototypal surrealist lived during the waning of the middle ages that would eventual come to demonize the religious scandals his day during the Enlightenment era. Despite being dismissed as Grotesschi art Bosch was one of the most prolific artists of the early seventeenth century depicting allegorical religious concepts and extravagant symbols depicting monsters, chaos, madness and the fall of human civilization.

I’m particularly attracted to Bosch’s famous Hell scenes for this and the vast building walls silhouetted against the burning cities in the background.  In the long run I’m seeking for my works to be more subtle in its execution and want people to be receptive to the sense of human absence however the appearance of common items so often seen, used and taken advantage of in our society can prove to be a good motif for the work.
